the Pyrenees Oriental
Amelie les Bains | Perpignan
Famed for its 330 days sunshine per year, it is one of the few places you can ski in the morning and swim in Mediterranean in the afternoon. Amelie les Bains is the perfect base for this being less than an hour and a half to the nearest Ski resort and only 35 minutes from the nearest beach.
At all times of the year the Pyrenees Oriental has something for everyone; from hill walking, to skiing, swimming or just relaxing with a bottle of wine and some good cheese. | |
|
Of course during the winter there is downhill skiing, snowboarding, and cross-country skiing, with ample choice to keep even the most experienced happy, but also an abundance of quality, family friendly resorts, available to all levels that are also excellent value for money. For example in Font Romeu/Pyrenees 2000 you can ski two resorts from top to bottom of the mountain on all green runs, or all black and red if you are so inclined. |
 |
For hill walkers there is an abundance of options from the Ski resorts which keep some lifts open during the summer months, to the wonderful peaks of the Canigou.
From early summer to late autumn your trip is bound to coincide with a festival of some description, from the Cherry Festival in May to the Ida y Vuelta (Come and Go) in Perpignan in June to the Festa Major de Collioure in August, there is something to keep everyone entertained. |
|
There are also a variety of wonderful beaches to visit from Canet Plage, Argles sur Mer, to Collioure. |
