Amelie les Bains

 

Famous for the thermal spas and named after the Queen Amelie, who came to bather there, Amelie les Bains has much to offer, from the thermals spas which care are reputed to have medicinal qualities, as well as offering relaxation treatments, to the river running through it, open air swimming pool, daily market and much more. All of Amelie les Bains offerings are enhanced by the offerings of the local area.

No trip to Amelie would be complete without a trip to the Cafe de Paris, to sample a glass of wine and the mid afternoon dancing, kicking off at 4.00pm it is truly a step back in time.

There is a good selection of quality restaurants in the town to cater for all tastes and budgets, from the exquisite restaurant at the Castle Emeraude, to the Casino which is consistently good quality to the Poivre Vert and the Pont de Diablo pizzeria. In nearby Ceret there are a number of great restaurants including the quirky "Chat qui Rit" which is definitely worth a visit.

With the fabulous Tech river flowing through it Amelie is an excellent choice for a spot of fishing or even a dip in the pure waters flowing down from the mountain. As well as the river there are a number of local options for swimming including the 25 meter outdoor pool complete with diving boards to the lake down a St Jean-Pla-de-Corts.
